My Life and Other Catastrophes

Ever get the feeling your life would qualify for National Disaster Relief? Say hello to Erin Costello. Erin's pretty much your average teenage girl . . . except that her mother has all the maternal instincts of a black widow spider, and her dad is out of work and completely clueless. That's probably why they're divorced. Not that anyone except Erin seems to care. Certainly not Erin's sucky little brother Ben, who's too busy making money, or her best friend Rami, who is turning into a fanatical environmental activist - with the emphasis on mental. And definitely not Creepazoid - Erin's mum's new boyfriend - who may or may not be a drug-dealing pervert disguised as a mild-mannered PE teacher!

Reviews of My Life . . .

'Erin Costello's year is a roller-coaster ride and Rowena Mohr navigates us through it at high speed, never missing a beat. This is very funny stuff, and Mohr knows just how to make the most of it.' - Nick Earls

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! It was deadly realistic writing which was funny and convincing at the same time! I'm recommending this book to all my friends.' - Sophie, age 15'

I loved this story! I just finished Year 10 and Erin seemed really real, like you could totally imagine the whole thing actually happening. It was a funny and easy book to read.' - Ellen, age 16

The Grumleys of Castle Grimwold

Nigel Grumley had always wanted to live in a castle – just like Ulric the boy-prince in his favourite novel, The Bloodstone of Carrickfergal. So when his dad has one of his ‘Brilliant Ideas’ and buys a 700 year old English castle, Nigel thinks all his dreams have come true. Except that Castle Grimwold is 12,000 miles away from home, a complete ruin and possibly the only castle in Europe that doesn’t have a dungeon, or a secret passageway – or anything.

Nigel isn’t the only one who’s not impressed. His mother is furious and his older sister Ness, a death-metal loving teen Vampira who calls her brother ‘Stupid’, becomes even meaner and more ferocious than usual.

But Nigel is wrong about Castle Grimwold’s total lack of mystery. Mystery number one is why everyone in the nearby village is suddenly obsessed with his older sister. And then there’s Rory - a seven foot tall Highland warrior who’s been asleep for a very long trime, Doreen the vanishing milkmaid – oh, and something very nasty in the cellar.
